The town is home to the Palamalai Nadhar (Siva) Temple, which is one of the old temples in South India, and the Thiru Kolanjiyappar Temple (Five km from Vriddhachalam), one of the famous temples for Lord Muruga.

The place is famous for a Shiva Temple dedicated to Vridhagiriswarar and there are 3 annual festivals which are celebrated here namely the one in the month of Aadi (Pooram), the Vaikasi Vasantotsavam and the Maasi Bhramotsavam.
